Disaster Volunteer Recognized for Service

getting involvedFrances Amison, an American Red Cross volunteer, was given the highest award for outstanding service by Medical Mutual at a luncheon on Tuesday, May 10, in the Crown Plaza Hotel in Toledo, OH.

Medical Mutual continued its tradition of community involvement by recognizing senior volunteers who selflsessly give of their time and talent to help others.  Frances Amison, a disaster services volunteer with the Greater Toledo Area Chapter of the Red Cross, was one of 23 people nominated for this award. Presenting the award to Frances in the photo at the right was Toledo Mayor Mike Bell (right) and Medical Mutual's Director of HR Service, Anita Voveris (left).

Frances works diligently to support the work of the Red Cross by providing relief to victims of disasters and is an instructor in first aid and CPR.  She has traveled to numerous national disasters to assist those affected by tragedy, but also serves her local community as a Disaster Action Team leader.  She is a supportive mentor to new volunteers, helping them to learn the skills necessary to serve others in their time of need. As a retired member of the United Auto Workers (UAW), Frances frequently reaches out to her union brothers and sisters to encourage their involvement wtih the Red Cross.
