As the disaster preparedness and training leader, the American Red Cross offers numerous programs to teach young people skills for managing the unexpected. Babysitter's Training - Target Audience: Ages 11-15
Care for children and infants

Longfellow's Whale Tales - Target Audience: Ages 5-12
Whale Tales is a 30-minute water safety course for children that focuses on safe behavior in, on, or around the water. Leaders can choose flexible activities from any of eight water safety topics.
Bee Ready Program - Target Audience: Ages 3-5
The ‘Bee’ Ready program teaches preschool-age children certain aspects of the three-step Be Red Cross Ready program with the aid of a coloring and activity book. In 30 minutes, participants will learn how to recognize and respond to emergencies, know whom they can trust in emergency situations, and how to put together a disaster supply kit.
First Aid for Children Today (FACT) - Target Audience: Grades K-3
Using characters called the "Critter Clan," FACT brings important health and safety information to young children at a level to which they can relate. Topics include hygiene and health habits, personal safety, and injury prevention.
Basic Aid Training (BAT) - Target Audience: Grades 3-5
In this course, children learn emergency response skills, rescue breathing, and ways to prevent and care for choking, wounds, nosebleeds, falls and animal bites. It includes training in fire safety, poisoning, water accidents, substance abuse and more.
First Aid Preparedness - Level 1 Target Audience: Grades K-5
Participants in this non-certification course learn about the five steps to preparedness; how to recognize and respond to the most common family emergencies; how and when to call 911; what to do when someone is choking; and how to respond to accidents and injuries.
First Aid Preparedness - Level 2 Target Audience: Grades 6-8
This program introduces participants to the concept of emergency preparedness and the principles of basic first aid. Volunteerism and helping others is stressed during this two-hour course.
Masters of Disaster - Target Audience: Grades K-8
Disaster preparedness and safety information presented to children as hands-on activities, vocabulary development, internet activities, discussions, demonstrations, and videos.
